Advanced Career Education (ACE) Center at Hermitage
ACE @ Hermitage Instructor: H. McMunn
State Course Title: Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow I (H) & Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow II (H)
Becoming a teacher is one of the most rewarding and meaningful careers you can choose. Teachers have the power to shape the minds and hearts of future generations, to inspire curiosity and creativity, to foster lifelong learning and growth. Teachers are not only educators, but also mentors, role models, leaders, and friends. Teachers make a difference in the lives of their students every day, and in turn, their students make a difference in the world.
What is it? This program is a great opportunity for high school students interested in becoming an educator to learn and experience the teaching profession and other educational support careers within Henrico County Public Schools
How does this work? During a student’s Junior year, they will take three courses at ACE @ Hermitage: Teachers for Tomorrow I and two core classes that are dual enrolled with Reynolds Community College. Counselors will work with each student’s individual schedule regarding the appropriate duel-enrolled course selection.
During their Senior year, students will take Teachers for Tomorrow II at ACE @ Hermitage and two additional classes that are dual enrolled with Reynolds Community College. Unique behind-the-scenes opportunities including job shadowing and career experiences will be an integral part of a practical and hands-on approach to learning about a career in education.
What are the benefits? Earn college credits while in high school, with up to 24 credits paid for by HCPS. Paid summer internships, paid work experiences throughout various educational settings in HCPS. Unique behind-the-scenes learning experiences. An opportunity to meet and build relationships with HCPS educators.
