State Course Title:  Intro to Plant Systems, Landscaping I/ Landscaping II.

Students develop competencies in each of the major areas of the Plant Systems career pathway, including applied botany, plant propagation, and plant care and selection. Instructional content also includes an introduction to the various aspects of the plant systems industry. Students learn agricultural mechanics applicable to plant systems.

Landscaping involves designing, installing, and maintaining outdoor spaces that are functional, attractive, and sustainable. Landscapers use plants, rocks, water, lighting, and other elements to create landscapes that suit the needs and preferences of their clients. Landscapers also must consider factors such as soil, climate, drainage, irrigation, pest control, and safety.

A career in landscaping can offer many benefits, such as:

– Working outdoors and enjoying nature
– Expressing your creativity and artistic skills
– Learning new things and developing new skills
– Helping people achieve their dreams and goals
– Making a positive impact on the environment and the community

Description:

  • This course focuses on preparing students for entry-level employment and advancement in landscape design, landscape construction, and landscape maintenance

  • Students gain experience in the use of hand and power tools related to landscaping

  • Students gain experience in turf care and ground maintenance. Students qualified as CTE finishers will take an Industry Credentialing assessment related to the course.
