Virginia course title: Graphic Imaging Technology I, Graphic Imaging Technology II.

Are you looking for a creative, rewarding and dynamic career? Consider graphic communications. Graphic communications is the art and science of creating and delivering visual messages through print, digital and multimedia platforms. Graphic communications professionals design, produce and distribute everything from books, magazines and newspapers to websites, apps and video games.

Graphic communication is important because it shapes how we communicate, learn and interact with the world. It can inform, persuade, educate and entertain us. Graphic communications can also influence our opinions, emotions and actions. Graphic communications can make a difference in society by raising awareness, promoting causes and inspiring change.

Graphic communications is also a growing and diverse field that offers many opportunities for personal and professional development. You can choose from a variety of roles and specialties, including graphic designer, web developer, printer, editor, animator, illustrator and photographer. You can work in different sectors and industries, such as advertising, publishing, education, entertainment, health care and government. You can also use your skills and talents to express your creativity, solve problems and collaborate with others.

If you are passionate about visual communication and want to make an impact with your work, graphic communications is the career for you. The field is not only important but also fun, exciting and rewarding. Graphic communication is the future of communication.

Graphic Communications I is designed to introduce students to the world of printing and related areas. Students learn to develop techniques to manage and control production printing using 21st-century skills, develop skills in digital composition and printing, wide-format printing and collating/binding operations and the material used with each. Students learn the differences among silk screening, heat-transfer vinyl and vinyl film, and produce graphics with them.

Graphic Communications II is designed to increase students' knowledge by working on more complex projects. Students have the opportunity to run large print jobs using the latest digital printing equipment and to specialize in areas of primary interest. With the approval and recommendation of the teacher, students may spend time in actual work experiences at a printing company during the second semester.

Students can become certified in:

  • PrintED certification

The cost of taking the certification test is paid for by Henrico County Public Schools.
