State Course Title: Cosmetology I, Cosmetology II.

Cosmetology I serves as a foundation for the entire cosmetology curriculum, familiarizing the student with basic procedures that will, with practice, lead to the skills of the occupation. Emphasis is placed on professional ethics, image development, and the skills required of a licensed cosmetologist.

In the second-year course, students expand on the knowledge and skills that are required for licensure. Emphasis is placed on advanced technique, with increased speed and perfection. Lab work is performed on mannequins, students, and patrons from the school and community in the school and in the salon. This allows students to gain the skills needed to ensure a smooth transition from school to employment in this industry. Students are encouraged to work in a salon as a stylist through the work experience program second semester.

Students who successfully complete the 2-year program will have the opportunity to take the state board exam to become a licensed cosmetologist, including becoming a salon manager/owner or makeup specialist
